No, I do not have a guide to love and murder for the modern day gentleman nor will I be writing one. I will, however, be checking out a production of it this Friday, February 15, at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) by 3-D Theatricals.
This will be my second time going there. I went last year to see their production of 42nd Street. It was my first time seeing local theatre and it was surprisingly impressive. I really got into it. The singing, acting, costumes, and dancing by the small local theatre companies are very much worthy of a Broadway show. The only things separating it are the sets and props. Broadway shows have the budget to make things move on and off the stage through automation while the local theatre has things on swiveling caster wheels and ropes.
Just like 42nd Street, I have no idea what A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder is about. All I know is that it’s a musical comedy and it won a Tony Award for Best Musical. I’m going in completely blind.
